Resources: About

Movies

Happy Feet (2006): This is a Disney movie that centers on penguins learning to dance. It has good environmental themes and consistent writing.

WALL-E (2008): This is a Pixar movie about a  trash-cleaning robot on Earth about 3000 years in the future. This is a classic.

Oceans (2009): This is a Disneynature movie about oceans and wildlife.

TV Shows

Planet Earth and Planet Earth II (BBC): These original series is one of the first big nature shows. The follow-up is incredibly similar, but has better visuals.

Bill Nye the Science Guy (Disney): This is the single kid's science show to watch. Nye presents scientific content in a clear, understandable, and fun way.

Wild Kratts: This PBS original is a show about animals in their natural environments. It's not the best, but vintage Animal Planet is vintage for a reason.

Books

Owl Moon (1987): This book is about a family experience in owl hunting, and is an iconic example of illustration.
The Lorax (1971): This is a classic Suessian tale about the perils of industrialization and that somebody needs to speak for the trees.
Make Way for Ducklings (1941): This is a tale about the perils of wildlife in a big city, in this case Boston. This inspired the duck statue in the Boston Common.
